UTV and Side-by-Side: What to Check After a Hard Weekend

UTVs and side-by-sides work in conditions that are hard on belts, filters, bearings, suspension parts, brakes, cooling systems, and electrical connections. After a rough or dusty weekend, a quick look-over is time well spent.

Look for damage and new leaks

Check underneath and around the suspension for fresh fluid, bent parts, torn boots, loose hardware, or anything packed with debris. A problem that is easy to see in the shop can be much harder to deal with on the trail.

Pay attention to airflow and cooling

Dust and debris can restrict filters and cooling surfaces. If the machine ran hotter than normal, lost power, or developed a new smell, do not ignore it.

Listen to the drivetrain

New belt noise, clunks, vibration, delayed engagement, or changes in how the machine accelerates can point toward belt, clutch, axle, bearing, or drivetrain wear.

Check steering, suspension, and brakes

A steering wheel that is suddenly off-center, new play, uneven braking, or a new knock over bumps is worth checking before the next ride.
